Mapping Maps

Territory · Memory · Representation

Fabrizio Ruggiero reinterprets historic cabrei—estate maps once used to define land ownership— as aesthetic ready-mades, transforming instruments of measurement into poetic visual fields.

Through enlargement, erasure, and displacement, these cartographic structures lose their functional role and re-emerge as symbolic artifacts, suspended between documentation and imagination.

The anonymous surveyor becomes an unwitting artist, his traces reactivated within a contemporary visual language that questions authorship, territory, and perception.
