A Bruit Secret / Pandora’s Box
The secret sound of painting.
A Bruit Secret / Pandora’s Box is a site-specific installation realised in 2010 within the deconsecrated church of San Lorenzo in Poppi, Tuscany.
The work unfolds as a symbolic constellation: ten fresco portraits of modern artists appear on the walls like secular icons, while at the centre the painting A Bruit Secret & Pandora’s Box occupies the niche of the former altar.
Borrowing its title from Marcel Duchamp’s famous ready-made, the installation acts as a visual koan — a paradox designed to suspend habitual thought and invite the viewer to perceive the “secret sound”.
